Well, tonight has been interesting.

I finally managed to get to go to that women's bar in Euston that I've been promising myself I'd go to for ages. It was very different to what I'd expected but it was a really nice place, very relaxed and friendly. I introduced one of the girls there to the concept of Yuri and she was really interested in it; this came up when a group of us had been discussing the poor quality of lesbian porn and the distinct lack of well-made lesbian stories.

Also met this woman who has lots of tattoos. We were chatting about working with scar tissue since I'm planning on getting a tattoo around a small scar I have on my hand. This woman - her name's Sue - told me that it wasn't a case of finding a tattooist who is qualified to work with scar tissue, it was more of finding one who's willing to work with scar tissue. Tis tricky stuff, apparently. She told me about a friend of hers who had done all of her tattoos, and her scar tissue was a lot worse than mine was.

Basically, Sue suffered from third-degree burns from the waist down a few years back and has had to have skin grafts, most of which have come from her back and arms. She sees the tattoos as a way of reclaiming her body, only gets them when she feels she has something to celebrate, and when she gets them she comes up with an idea herself and lets her friend design the flash, so it's more personal for her.

That's the best way to think about tattoos, I reckon.

She also told me she was trying to get some writing published - she mostly writes poems but also does some erotica and other things. I gave her the website address for Grundleink. Even if they don't want to publish her stuff, she can see how to do manuscripts and things on there. Tis a very helpful website.

I left there around 8.30 and went to Namco to meet up with a couple of people. We hung around in Namco for a bit, then went to the Troc and hung around. Around 11.15 I decided I wanted to go home, but while on my way to the tube I stopped to have my portrait drawn by a street artist.

He and I started chatting and it turns out he's had things put up in galleries before; he's sent me some photos of his work and newspaper clippings about his exhibitions. He also said he might be getting some stuff put up in the National Portrait Gallery and has asked me if I'd like to model for him.

There's an offer you don't get every day, huh? :)

Anyway, I'm going to go to bed now. I'm beginning to get a headache. Bloody lack of sleep... >_<
